“We are writers, and we never ask one another where we get our ideas; we know we don’t know.”
—Stephen King, On Writing
A question for all of my readers and literature buffs
I have to go on vacation with my family for a month - I’m going to be far from my friends and anything else for that amount of time. The only thing making me happy about this is the amount of books I’ll read. I’m looking for some great books to buy and bring with me. So, this is a question for all of you: What book(s) do you recommend I get before I go?
“If you have ever peeled an onion, then you know that the first thin, papery layer reveals another thin, papery layer, and that layer reveals another, and another, and before you know it you have hundreds of layers all over the kitchen table and thousands of tears in your eyes, sorry that you ever started peeling in the first place and wishing that you had left the onion alone to wither away on the shelf of the pantry while you went on with your life, even if that meant never again enjoying the complicated and overwhelming taste of this strange and bitter vegetable.”
—Lemony Snicket - The End
“Once upon a time, there was a woman who discovered she had turned into the wrong person.”
—Anne Tyler - Back When We Were Grownups
